The mixed year group planning for Key Stage 2 is designed as a two-year rolling programme. For example, the objectives for Y3 and Y4 have been combined to produce two years - A and B. This ensures that all the objectives for these two year groups will have been covered by the end of Year 4.

The Key Stage 1 planning tries to match similar text level objectives for the two year groups to ensure whole class shared reading and writing is roughly similar in content. Word level work is designed to be taught in separate sessions to ensure the children follow a stricter progression for phonics and spelling.
